Since Microsoft pumped in $800 million in revenue, SharePoint is its fastest-growing product in its history. "SharePoint is growing rapidly because it's the first product from Microsoft that really is a universal framework," said Ken Winell, senior vice president at Pcubed.
SharePoint's broadness allows every Microsoft partner from Dynamics, Enterprise Project Management or Project Portfolio Server, to capitalize on the technology.
Steve Ballmer calls it ‘The next big operating system from Microsoft.’
In true Microsoft style of controlling the technology , this does put a limit on the XML or the Semantic Web products out there ever integrating with an MS product.
But I suppose you could say this is an ISV opportunity, that MS won't address soon.
