So earlier this month Gates formally stepped down from his full time role at Microsoft and has left most of his day to day tasks to people like Craig Mundie and Ray Ozzie. Now we all know Ray Ozzie, as the guy who invented Lotus Notes, but that’s about it. At the time and still today Notes changed the landscape for collaboration computing in the business world, but Mr. Ozzie, so far hasn’t been able to re produce another hit which Microsoft are looking for him to do.

Yes, there’s cloud computing, mobile, streaming video, and a few others that I could mention, but these are already being done by other folks.

A one hit wonder? Hopefully not.
