Microsoft has officially unveiled a preview of Live Mesh, the web services platform seen as a key plank of the company's new battlefront with Google, Salesforce, Amazon and Facebook web offering…. I wonder which one will be squeezed first..
The service will be simple and only provide file sharing and folder synchronization for Windows XP and Vista PCs to a closed beta of about 10,000 testers, which plans for yes wait for it…work on non Microsoft platforms- Macs.
Microsoft already has Exchange and SharePoint Online, and Dynamics CRM Live.
My bet is that Redmond is trying to attract the "open" platform development community and let them write code in a variety of flavors for Live Mesh that include anything from Atom to RSS and Javascript.
And to do all of this without Yahoo!!!!!
